INVESTIGATING STUDENTS’ EFFORT IN SUCCEED IN SPEAKING ENGLISH: A CASE STUDY ON STUDENTS’ PERSPECTIVE

Abstract: This research was conducted to investigate the students’ efforts in speaking skills and aspects of skill that mostly developed by students at seond grade SMAN 1 Mowewe. used a descriptive qualitative method using case study English design. In conducting this research, researcher took class XI MIA Mowewe as subject with considerable have highest effort improve skill. The two kinds instrument, namely questionnaire interview. analyzed data calculating analyzing answer. For interview transcribing tape recording, coding (labeling) whole transcribed text, seeking for naming themes, reviewing themes make sure they fit data, write-up (creating coherent narrative).
 result showed had six activities There were 1) new vocabulary easily remember vocabulary, 2) mirror fluently, 3) checked correct pronunciation on an online dictionary, 4) asked friend helping them if forgot 5) looked native speakers improving their pronunciation, 6) made small note write vocabulary. additional there some skill, comprehension, fluency, grammar.
